SMIRK – WHOLE HOLLOW EP (2009)
The Smirk shenanigans continue! In the interest of vanquishing boredom, I recently recorded two new original tunes, as well as a Nirvana Cover. The two originals are part of a larger project due out in Spring of 2010, tentatively entitled “Whole Hollow.” These songs are totally free, so feel free to save them, this is only a hobby! All songs written and recorded by Mike Oppenheim, except the Nirvana song:
- Walking Along (Engineered by Ryan Dicker)
- Hollow
- You Know You’re Right (Nirvana Cover, copyright 2002 SubPop)
SMIRK – Caliyougo (2008)
“Smirk” is Mike
Oppenheim’s continuing effort at prolonging his solo effort, post Punchclock. The “band” has traditionally featured Mike on Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals. The new record is called “Caliyougo,” it’s 100% FREE and it is available in download format, as well as in hard copy…just email me for info. Preview a few of the songs right here:
- Lead TrackCosmopolitan (Featuring Ryan Dicker on Elec. Guitar)
- My Personal Favorite:Hey Rapunzel
- Sidekick (Featuring Jeremy Diamond on Bass)
SMIRK – KINDA’ SOBER (2005)
“Smirk” is Mike Oppenheim’s first solo effort after the cessation of Punchclock. Smirk is a “band” featuring Mike on Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals. This album was recorded in an apartment on Portland’s nominally famous Hawthorne Blvd. during Mike’s first summer in Portland, OR, during June and July of 2005. Most of the songs were written that same year, but a few were leftovers that He rearranged from his earlier career in Pittsburgh
PUNCHCLOCK – SURPRISE ME (2004)
Punchclock was my first post-college band that I formed. The band was situated in upstate NY, specifically in the town of Ithaca, NY, but we performed in different cities along the East Coast from July of 2003 until December of 2004. The band only recorded one album, called “Surprise Me,” but the album achieved some moderate success (locally, of course), and to this day I remain very proud of this record. Punchclock features Mike Oppenheim on Guitar and Vocals, Franck Rey Herme on Guitar and Keys, Cindy Williams on Bass, and Al Frenklach on Percussion. We have plenty of CD’s left to sell, and they’re dirt cheap. Email me for details.
MIKE OPPENHEIM – $ELL YOU $OUL FOR $ECURITY (2002)
This is my finest solo effort from Pittsburgh, PA. While it has no percussion tracks on it, it’s the first solo effort on which I learned how to mix and layer alternate guitar tracks and vocals. All of the instruments are played by me, and all of the songs are original works by yours truly as well.
If you want to hear more, there’s a lot more to hear! So email me, and i’ll be happy to upload more tracks, or work out a deal to send you actual CD’s.
